Focus Area: Tackling IWT

Tackling Illegal Wildlife Trade
Illegal wildlife trade threatens Mongolia’s biodiversity, endangers species, and fuels global trafficking networks. ZS Luujin has led a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening law enforcement capacity, securing borders, and disrupting trafficking routes.

Tackling Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT)

ZS Luujin is leading the fight against illegal wildlife trade (IWT) in Mongolia by enhancing law enforcement, border security, and community involvement. Our conservation projects have strengthened the newly established Ecological police, supported the Customs Administration in disrupting trafficking networks, and upgraded canine detection units within law enforcement organizations, including Police Administration and Border Defence Administration. ZS Luujin is committed to skills development training and supplying essential equipment, such as the Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART) for patrols, fostering community stewardship in partnership with law enforcement and raising public awareness about the IWT impacts.
